Syndicat des Vins d'Irouléguy
Cellar master
Situated in the heart of the Basque country on the slopes of the western Pyrenees, the Irouléguy vineyard is the only wine appellation in the northern Basque country (France). Located around Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port and Saint-Etienne-de-Baïgorry, it is considered one of the smallest mountain vineyards in France: 2/3 of the vineyards are planted on terraces, on a slope that imposes the tradition of manual labor.
Irouléguy boasts some sixty growers, including 19 independent estates and 1 cooperative winery, who produce wines with a strong identity: red, rosé and dry white.
Ask for our Vignobles et Découvertes activity booklet, and set off to meet these men and women who are passionate about their vines and their land!
