Pelote basque : 100 ans de la Zaharrer Segi. : bota luze
Sports competition
Bota luze, the origins of Basque pelota Following the example of many Western European nations, long hand pelota has been played in the Basque Country since at least the 12th century. It owes its success and longevity to the simplicity of its facilities - a simple clay or grass court called sorhopil (soropil) - and its instruments, the pelota and the hand. Over the centuries, the French long palm has undergone a number of adaptations in the Basque country, taking the name of "Bota Luzia". As part of the club's centenary celebrations, we wanted to offer a game of bota luze, a game that is part of our cultural heritage. Considered the ancestor of rebot, it was played by shepherds on summer pastures.
