The church in Ascain is one of the most precious religious edifices in the Basque Country, with its magnificent nave and galleries. There remain just a few vestiges of the edifice built towards the end of the Middle Ages. The church was extended in the 16th and 17th centuries. It also has the peculiarity of belonging to the type of church with a bell-porch, being an integral part of the edifice.
