De St-Jean-Pied-de-Port à Roncevaux

From Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, two routes are available to walkers. Here is the most emblematic one. It runs along the Napoleon road, so called because it was laid out in the time of Napoleon during his campaign in Spain. This stage is very long and has a high gradient: be warned!
Be warned! Itinerary closed (on the Spanish part) from November 1st to March 31st for security reasons. The passage is then done by Valcarlos.
